Re: Flying At Sea

At the intrusion into the water, Aerythel stirred from where he had been waiting. It had been some time since a village had gifted him someone, nearly a century if he remembered correctly. With a low hum from deep within his chest, the sea god took the form of a giant fish and swam towards the shore, he would not keep his gift waiting.

------------

Ellwen had been about to enter into the Drunken Seagull when Fynn yanked him out of the way of the drunks getting tossed out. The blue Avian gave Ellwen a look, but he only grinned and stepped around the drunks and to the pub door, leaving Fynn to follow behind exasperated.

"Pardon me, this is your bar?" Ellwen wasted not time going up to the large woman, appearing completely at home. "I was told you may have lodging for the night. I was hoping to try some of your ale, but, well, flying home doesn't sound appealing drunk." He chuckled.

Re: Flying At Sea

Reyjna sighed in content as her body shifted, legs becoming a large tail with flippers. Silently she dipped beneath the waters, swimming down towards the sandy bottom to search for shells and sea plants. She knew she could just insist Isil do it themselves; but then, she also knew how panicked the open water made them. How they froze at the sight of any large fish. No, the selkie was just fine with running errands for her friend.

--------------

Lily turned to look down at the two newcomers, one thick brow raising slowly. "This bar's mine, yeah. Room for two? 'S ten gold for two nights, sound fair? Y'look new here, other places'll try ta bleed you dry."

When Aerythel spotted Reyjna, he began to circle her, coming closer and closer to her. "A Selkie, and a pretty one at that, I'm impressed." An echoing voice came emanating from the Sea God, not quite spoken, but spoken non the less. "A gift truly befitting to me."

------------

"Sounds more than fair." Ellwen said with a bright smile, pulling his bag of coin from the satchel he was carrying. He fished out the coin, as well as double the price Lily had asked for. "I'd also like to try the best of your Ale. I plan to be too drunk to go anywhere but bed by the time night's through." He said cheerily, while Fynn just grumbled behind him.

"Gift? You've got it wrong, old god, I'm just out for a night swim." Reyjna chuckled, careful not to let Aerythel get too close to her. Never had she encountered a god before, but how different could it be to talking to Isil, or those birds? "I do apologize if I disturbed you, though."

--------

Lily snorted and grinned, slapping a large hand onto both Ellwen and Fynn's back, leading them right up to the bar. "Sit, you've come to the right place. Aetrin! Shove over a bit, yer takin' up half the bar!'

"Wh-This is my spot!! This has been my spot for five years!!" Aetrin was quick to argue, but couldn't do much when a large foot physically pushed him down the bar to make space.

"Is your spot when the bar isn't packed! You may live like an animal but I must make money!" With that, the orc woman left the two men to take their seats, going around to the other side of the bar and filling two large glasses with a dark ale.

Slapping them down in front of her new customers, Lily beamed. "Finished this batch just this mornin', freshest you'll get in town,"

"You are still a gift," Aerythel chuckled, beginning to circle close enough that he was nearly crossing over his tail. "This night is for me, a celebration so the seas stay plentiful, I come to land every year during it. I always take a gift, but it has been some time since the gift was living."

----------

Ellwen laughed heartily as he sat, tugging Fynn along. "I don't doubt that! I've only heard good things about your pub." He said, happily taking a swig.

Fynn begrudgingly took his drink as well, looking surprised after a moment. "This is good, better than I was expecting." He said, sounding surprised and pleased.

Reyjna watched Aerythel carefully, darting out of his trap before she could be caught. The old shrinking circle trick? How dumb did he think she was? "I am no gift, sea god. I came for supplies, sea plants and such, but I can always return when you are gone."

--------

"Don't be an ass." Aetrin grumbled when he heard Fynn, voice gravelly and low. He took another drink from his glass, before turning to stare at the other man with eyes that held an otherworldly glow. "Lily works herself to exhaustion to provide you a bed and a meal. Least you can do is show some fuckin' respect."

Lily just ignored her old friend, rather focusing on the more positive Ellwen. "Good! I work hard to keep my reputation. Now drink! Enjoy yourself, tonight the whole town is a party!"

"I could simply take you." Aerythel hummed, his form glowing before shifting, smaller and smaller, until he resembled more of a siren than a giant fish. "But if you prefer, I have other ways to get you to come with me."

---------

Fynn frowned and looked to Aetrin. "I meant no disrespect, in fact I meant that as a compliment." He said, taking another drink. "I've never had ale from the lower lands before."

"I will, thank you!" Ellwen said with a bright smile, tossing his head back and chugging his drink.

Reyjna laughed at that, shaking her head as she swam backwards to shore. "I wish you luck, then. My best friend is a siren, your songs won't work on me." The selkie smirked, a thought popping up in her head. "If you want me that badly, you'll have to get me the old fashioned way. I am no gift, and I belong to no one; but selkies have always offered their coats to those that prove they deserve it,"

---------

"Mm. Haven't seen on'a you before. You live in that floating city, yeah? Bet you don't see much outside your own kind, huh?" Aetrin backed down as quickly as he had gotten riled up, pushing the hood of his cloak off now that he wasn't trying to disappear into his drink. "How's that stay up anyway? Fae?"

------

"Mm, Ancient mage magic, actually!" Ellwen butted in with a grin.

"Caelum Ventus, thousands of years ago, was a part of the land here." Fynn began to explain. "An earthquake threatened to sink the land into the ocean, so the first king of Caelum Ventus called upon mages to make the city float." He shook his head a bit, taking another drink. "From the old texts, the magic worked better than could be expected. They only wanted it to float on the water, but the Caelum Ventus rose high up in the air, staying where it is now for thousands of years."

"The king then sent the mages to other cities, to turn them into floating cities and establish his rule over the sky." Ellwen hummed. "He appointed Dukes and Duchesses to protect each city, and those families have been ruling the cities ever since."

Re: Flying At Sea

"So you hide in the clouds? Sounds kinda cowardly. I mean, no offense, I keep t'myself too, but down here ain't really cut off from monsters like you must be." Aetrin snorted, imagining if his people had up and disappeared into the sky. Still probably would have been hunted down.

Lily let out her own snort, smacking the Fae-in-hiding on the back of the head; though not hard enough to hurt. "Why must you be so sour, even drunk? Make some friends for once!!"

"You know you're my only friend, and that's an exception." Aetrin was quick to point out, one eye going from Fynn and Ellwen back to his friend. "You wan' hear how I lost this eye again? 'Cause I know you don't, and you know if you keep pushin' I'll !@#$ do it."
