Re: Who Put This Bean In A Flying Tin Can

"This is just like Star Trek," Maxie muttered to himself, shaking his head when Asterris mentioned his shuttle. "Yeah, I was never meant to leave planetary orbit. I was out doing scheduled repairs on a satellite, and I got struck out of alignment by a rock or debris. The farthest we've ever been is only to our moon."

"Well, we have sent rovers to the next planet over, but I'm not sure if that counts?" When he realized he was rambling, he flushed, his face and ears turning pink. "I'm being very unprofessional, this is just- we have been dreaming of finding other life in the universe for centuries, and this only happened because of a coincidence,"

"You were knocked far from planetary orbit." Asterris mused. "Come, I'll have you show me which is your planet and we'll return you to proper range so you may speak with your superiors." He said, standing a bit taller before offering Maxie a hand to help him from the medic's chair. "And.. don't be too surprised if other crewman, like Reven here, try to reach out and touch you. Your looks are very.. hmm... visually pleasing, they are eliciting reactions to want to touch and feel, which can be a common reaction in my kind when we come across small, soft looking creatures."

"Oh goodness you think we're cute." Maxie snorted, taking Asterris' hand to get up and then removing the bulky spacesuit he was wearing, revealing a more fitted suit meant for when he was inside ships or the space station. "I think I can handle that. Lead the way, Commander, my superiors are probably announcing me dead by now."

Asterris looked over Maxie curiously before letting out an appreciative trill that had Reven snickering. He shot the medic a false glare before leading Maxie out and through halls, many of Asterris's kind stopping and looking curiously at the human. Once they reached the deck, consoles with detailed holograms and strange languages set up all around, and in front of it all was a giant screen, made to show what was on the other side of the ship without actually using glass.

"Welcome to the main deck, Max." Asterris said, then cleared his throat to get everyone's attention. "Crew members, please welcome flight engineer Max, he is a guest on our ship while we return them to their superiors, and we are the first contact for their kind. I know you will be tempted to touch them, but be sure to first ask." He announced, and a soft buzz of conversation popped up, some people coming to take a closer look at Maxie while others returned to work.

"Call me Maxie," The human gave a lopsided grin, before looking around at the holograms and tech in awe and having to restrain himself from running to touch one. "This is going to change everything. Houston is gonna have a heart attack when I tell them I was rescued by aliens,"

Following behind Asterris to help direct the way home, he extended an open invitation to those curious about him. "You can touch, just shoulders and above, please."

There was a few trills from the aliens before they curiously began to touch Maxie, ruffling his hair and gently scritching over his neck and shoulders.

Asterris couldn't help the twitch in his mouth to a smile. "Now everyone on board will want to touch you." He pointed out before grabbing a spherical object from its place on a table. He tapped at it a couple times before suddenly all around them a hologram formed of first the galaxy, and Asterris moved his claws a certain way to zoom the hologram in onto the solar system. "Alright, so this is the system we're currently in, which planet was it?" He asked, him and all the crew unbothered by the sudden hologram; it was a normal thing to them.

"What do trills mean? Humans are pretty good mimics but I don't think we can do that," Maxie laughed, trying not to giggle or make an accidental pleased sound from the skritches.

When the hologram popped up, the human was left speechless, staring with wide eyes at the little ball that was his planet. "This. Uh. This one. This technology is incredible!! How did you do it? How does it work? Gods, I have so many questions, where do I begin?"

"It's a sound we make when we are excited, pleased, or content." Asterris said, churring at Maxie's excitement. "You can start where ever you please, though some things may have to wait to be answered until after we meet your people. It's not a long way to your planet." He said, swirling his fingers around the hologram of the planet until it lit up. Shortly after, the path the ship was taking veered, and the hologram moved around them as they moved.

"How did your kind achieve space flight? Are there other sentient races in the universe? Are they all part of the cosmic community?" Maxie fired off rapidly, though his eyes never left the hologram as it moved. Slowly, the soft static on his comm began to clear; signal growing stronger and stronger as they got closer to Earth. "Has anyone ever found our probes? Or heard our radio signals? How do new races usually get found? Am I asking too many questions?"

Asterris blinked, his eye lids coming from the side rather than up and down. "Too many at once, but that is alright." He said, but appeared to smile. "There are many sentient species across the galaxies, with various forms of space travel. My people achieved space flight by accident, we stumbled onto an old and ancient civilization that had died out before my people gained sentience. There we found the key to space travel, and from there we made our first contact and became the Farrah Federation." He explained. "We make alliances and treaties with others, though there are those who oppose us, or want to take our territories for their own. Unfortunately, I don't know if we've found any of your kind's signals or technology, but if the Farrah Federation has any information on it it will be in the central database."
