Re: Feathered Fae

Reese curled into himself a little; of course he was the only flawed one they had gotten, for others this was an honor- he was just being thrown out. "I'm not exactly prime sacrifice material. The town just hated me and wanted to get rid of me; the scars are all their previous failed attempts." He muttered, crossing his arms and wishing Tarragon was going to eat him.

"They should not have treated you so." Tarragon said, tilting Reese's chin up to look into his eyes. "You no longer have to worry about them. Most likely you will never see any of them again, unless one of them ends up as the next sacrifice." He said, then stood tall once again. "Now come, out of those pants. I will refrain from removing them from you myself, since you do not seem to appreciate that."

Re: Feathered Fae

"W-What exactly is my purpose here?" Reese asked, reluctantly slipping out of his pants and getting a sinking feeling in his gut. He tried to cover himself up a little once he stood naked, ignoring the part of him that liked the way Tarragon touched him. "A-And can I wear something a little more modest?"

Re: Feathered Fae

"I have been told that it is best you learn about your purpose from one of your own people." Tarragon said, scanning his eyes over Reese's naked body before walking towards a doorway, only kept separate from the main room by hanging mosses. "Come, there are clothes in here for you." He said, and inside the smaller room Tarragon had walked in there appeared to be shelves made of branches lining the room's walls. The Fae pulled clothes from the shelves, what appeared to be a tunic with slits in the sides that would go up to Reese's hips that then had openings on either side to fit loosely on the human.

"Normally it is just this that we have your kind wear with jewelry, but I will add something more for you." He said, figuring Reese didn't want people looking at his scars. He set the tunic aside on a small round table before rifling through the clothes until he found a shawl that would drape over Reese's shoulders and partially over his front and down his back. "I think this will do."

While Tarragon was looking for the shawl, Reese quickly pulled the tunic on, staring down at his bare legs and looking unhappy. When he saw his only other piece of clothing, he bit back a whine; wrapping it around himself tightly and fiddling nervously with the feathers of his earring. He felt practically naked, and kept his legs tight together in discomfort. "O-Okay then, can I go talk to another human?"

Re: Feathered Fae

"Not yet." Tarragon said gently, stepping over to another set of shelves and pulling out bits of gold jewelry. He gently took Reese's arms and places gold bands on him before draping light gold chains across his shoulders. "There, now you're complete." He said, looking pleased with himself. "Now, come along and stay close. I would rather not have another Fae try and snatch you away." He chuckled, leading Reese out of the room, then out of his home, which did turn out to be inside a large hollowed willow tree. Without stopping to let Reese take in the new surroundings, Tarragon continued to walk, greeting Fae as they passed, each looking Reese over with interest.

Re: Feathered Fae

Reese shrunk into himself more with each new Fae, staying as close to Tarragon as he could and feeling overwhelmed by everything. More and more, he wanted to get to their destination, feeling like a pet and desperately needing to see another human. "I-Is it much farther?" He asked impatiently, wanting more clothing to hide himself in.

Re: Feathered Fae

"We are nearly there." Tarragon said with an amused smile. They came upon a large tree, much larger than the one Tarragon had, that had a stream passing steadily through it. There were stones that made a path through the stream that Tarragon helped Reese over before leading him through hanging mosses into the tree. In the center of the main room within was a pool of water that fed the stream, ripples on top of the water showed that the water bubbled up from the underground.

Sitting at the edge of the water was a human man with hair tied up in a bun, wearing something very similar to Reese. He sat on the edge of the water, humming a soft tune to something in his arms. Upon closer inspection of what was in the man's arms, it was a small Fae child fast asleep with feathers so dark they were nearly black, though white feathers were flecked here and there. The little fae child's wings were far more fluffy than any Fae Reese had yet to see, and looked like they were the softest things in the world.

Tarragon cleared his throat and smiled when the human looked up. "Oh! Tarragon, I was told to be expecting you soon." The human said with a smile, carefully getting up and walking over to the Fae. He smiled when Tarragon pushed Reese in front of him.

"Hello Shea, this is Reese." Tarragon said with a smile as he gently pushed Reese towards the other human.

"Reese, you're probably very confused about what's happening." Shea said with a gentle smile, shifting the Fae child in his arms. "Come, sit with me and I will explain." He said, leading Reese back to the edge of the water and returning to where he was sitting.

Re: Feathered Fae

Reese just nodded weakly and followed, thinking that this place was too perfect to be true. Everything was lush and beautiful and peaceful, and he had done nothing to deserve such a paradise. At the edge of the water, he sat, staring at his own reflection blankly for a few moments.

"I-I'm pretty sure they only chose me cause they thought I would die, so, um." He bit his lip harshly to shut himself up, pulling the shawl tighter around himself. "Tarragon won't tell me what I'm here for. Will you?"

Re: Feathered Fae

Shea smiled apologetically to Reese. "It really is best to hear about this from another human. I've heard from a few of the others that it was rather... frightening to hear from their Fae." He explained. "We're here to help the Fae, which in return they help the villages that have given us to them. There is not much the Fae actually need help with, but we are here for them. We are here to keep them company, to do what things they need us to do, but most importantly they need us because without us they cannot have children." He explained, gently running his finger's through the Fae child's feathers when they made a soft noise. "For nearly a millennia the Fae have needed humans to carry their young. It is hard to take in at first, I know from experience, but I promise you it is a great gift." He said with a gentle smile.
