Re: SeaWorld with Mermen

Vei startled when he heard his name, a smile growing on his face as he swam quickly towards Oliver. "Ollie!" He cried, wasting no time in wrapping his friend in a hug. "It's been so long! I'm so happy you're here!" He said, pulling back to look over his friend. "You look so different, much more rugged with all those scars! How are you? Ah, there's so much to catch up on!"

Asher followed close behind Oliver, the twitch to pull his mate away itching at him as it usually did when anyone else touched his mate, but he resisted. "Good to see you're alive and well, Vei." He said, the smallest smile on his face.

"I'm good, so good, Vei," Oliver beamed, showing off meticulously cared for teeth, sharp as razors. After their escape, the pink mer had become a little...obsessive, with maintaining his teeth. Making sure they were never dulled again. Huh, maybe it was why he collected teeth?

Oliver felt all over his friend, looking for any kind of injury or pain, looking very sternly into his eyes when there were no immediate physical wounds. "How are you? What happened after we got out? I, I am so sorry for leaving you here, Vei, I wish we could have taken you with,"

Vei bit his lip and glanced away from Oliver. "They succeeded with the breeding program after you guys escaped." He said quietly. "I knew the handlers wouldn't let me keep them after they were born, so I planned an attack on them, to see if maybe I could get out too." He shook his head. "I... bit the ear off one of the handlers, and nearly took three fingers off another before they tranquilized me. They kept me under for the entire time, I woke up and there was no sign I was expecting. I didn't even see them before the handlers took them away." Vei took in a slow breath. "That was a couple years before there was a fight for mer rights." He said, looking to Asher. "You along with a few others inspired the changes. Some human had recorded you communicating in sign language, it went what humans call 'viral'."

"Oh, Vei," Oliver whined, pulling their friend ind for a tight hug and automatically letting out comforting clicks. "I'm sure they kept records, right? We could find them, I know we could, what about your human? They would help!"

Already he was running through ideas to fix things, wanting his loved ones happy and safe. "And while they search we can show you how to live like a real mer! You'll love the reefs, Vei,"

"They've been trying, but our handlers apparently were not following the human laws when doing their business.." Vei sighed.

Asher growled a bit at that. "Of course not, that's why I don't trust humans, something is always wrong with them." He shook his head. "Oliver is right, though, while the humans sort themselves out and find out what happened, we'll show you the ocean. We've been brought back to help out the captive mers so they know what to do outside of facilities."

Oliver shook his head, anger and sadness building in him at the thought of Vei's pups, all alone somewhere in the world. "Those monsters. Hopefully the good humans will find something to lead us to your babies. Until then, we can at least take your mind off of things, right?"

Looping one of his arms through the other pod mer's, Oliver tried to give what he hoped was a comforting smile. "I can't wait to show you what it's like, Vei, it's so beautiful. We can find you a nice pod to live with, maybe! One close to us so I can visit!"

"They're wary of me, but adore Oliver, so I doubt you'll have trouble getting along with them." Asher said, giving Vei a smile.

"I... you think I'd fit in alright, even though I know nothing of the ocean?" Vei asked, sounding nervous. In truth, he didn't know if he'd do well in the ocean, rather frightened of the wall-less expanse of water.

"Of course! We'll help, and pods are always happy to teach new mers how to survive," Oliver comforted, hearing the nerves in Vei's voice and understanding completely.

"It's...scary, at first, I know; but it only lasts a little while, I promise," The pink mer smiled softly, figuring they would slowly work his friend up to going all the way into the ocean.
