Re: Flying At Sea

"There is much to see." Aerythel said with a nod. "The world is large and vast, one could explore for ages and still have more to see." He chuckled. "I can't imagine only staying in one place, however I haven't strayed much onto land myself, outside of coastlines that is."

------

"It must get lonely." Fynn said lightly as he sat. "I know what it's like to lose family, I lost mine at a young age, about six years before I met Ellwen."

------

"Won't go any farther, I promise." Ellwen said with a bright smile, keeping one hand on Isil as he unclasped the back of his shirt and tugged it off. "Besides, I'm curious about what your tail looks like." He said before scooping Isil into his arms and beginning to carry him into the water.

Re: Flying At Sea

"I want to see everything." Reyjna beamed, having long dreamed of adventure and exploration; of secrets waiting to be found just past home. "I guess I'm strange; land doesn't trouble me the way it does most sea life. But I want to see deserts and canyons, meet beings I never knew existed,"

-----

"I, uh, how? If you don't mind, you don't gotta say," Aetrin fumbled over his words, pouring two big cups of tea and then holding his close to his chest. "It's not so bad, I've got the sprites. And most of the time I'm at Lily's, anyway."

------

"It's not much to look at, anymore. That shark damaged most of my fins." Isil still flushed, not used to compliments from men still in their right minds. They wrapped their arms around Ellwen and held tight, truly hoping the scars on their tail wouldn't frighten away possibly the only person they had ever wanted to keep for themselves.

As the water got deeper and began to lap at the siren, they changed; legs shifting together as iridescent scales covered most of their body. Their fins, even torn, were ethereal, dragging in the water behind the two like stardust.

"I've never seen a desert before." Aerythel said thoughtfully. "We could visit one together." He suggested.

------

Fynn took the other cup and had a slow sip of the tea. "When I was young, Caelum Ventus wasn't as safe as it is now." He started, leaning forward and resting his elbows on the table. "There used to be a group, called themselves the 'Order of Dragons', they made their home on Caelum Ventus and kept their identities a secret. They hated my kind, would attack people while wearing masks and disguises. My family lived on the outskirts of the main city, enough so we had our own bit of farm land. The Order of Dragons came one night and burned everything to the ground, and murdered my family. My sister protected me as I ran, shielded me from the attacks." He said softly, gazing into the hot liquid in his cup. "I hid in a cave for days, and only left when I was too hungry to stay. I lived on the streets until I met Ellwen and he saved my life from the Order of Dragons, he lost his arm saving me. I wouldn't be here otherwise."

------

Ellwen stared at Isil's fins and tail in awe, gently running a hand over the siren's scales as he paused just before the water reached his shoulders, his feathers soaked by the sea. "Your tail is beautiful." He said softly. "Like it's made of stardust."

"That we could." Reyjna yawned, full and content and pleasantly sleepy. "Care to walk me home? I'll invite you in for a nightcap if you want,"

-----

"Sorry," Was what immediately came out of Aetrin's mouth when he could speak again; hurting but somehow feeling better at the same time, with someone that was like him, that had felt the same pain he had.

"I, uh. I was thirteen, I think, everything was fine and...and then it wasn't. Me and my mum were inside, an' we heard the screaming start, so she hid me under one'a the loose floorboards, and then these men, these humans, they bust the door down, and...I didn't move for two days."

"I would not mind that at all." Aerythel said with a chuckle, standing and offering his arm to Reyjna. "It has been many years since I have slept on land."

------

Fynn nodded a bit, hesitating a moment before reaching out and placing his hand over Aetrin's. "Not many people would understand, but it's a horrible thing to go through." He said softly. "I'm glad we both managed to survive our ordeals."

Re: Flying At Sea

We're meant to glitter like gold, jewels," Isil explained softly, looking out at the sea; knowing they would just turn red if they made eye contact with Ellwen. "Another treasure to hunt. Humans love shiny things so much,"

They laughed a little at that, honestly enamored with how most land-dwellers decorated themselves and hoarded sparkly belongings, like little crabs covering themselves with plants and rocks and shells.

-----

"You better still know the proper etiquette; I'm not afraid to punch a god if they step out of line," Reyjna grinned and looped her arm with Aerythel, taking the lead and heading home.

-----

Aetrin looked up at Fynn and smiled, just a little, some of the more poorly built walls inside of him starting to crumble down. "I am too. And 'm glad I could meet you. I've never met anyone, before, that understands. Not, Not like you can. 'S nice,"

"We Avians are also often enamored with shiny things." Ellwen said with a smile. "Some more than others, but I definitely see the appeal." He hummed, stretching his wings in the water before flopping back and pulling Isil with him, using his wings to propel them in the shallow water.

------

"Hmm, etiquette has changed over the years, so I hope I don't overstep anywhere" Aerythel said, though he was smiling. "I may even be a little old fashioned to what you're used to at times."

------

Fynn nodded lightly, giving Aetrin's hand a small squeeze. "No one else really knows what it's like. When I was first brought to Ellwen's family, it was really hard adjusting to everything. They were so different from my own, I was so lost for a long time." He shook his head.

"Oh!" Isil gasped and held tighter to Ellwen when he flopped backwards, laughter bubbling up after a moment of shock. It had been so, so long since they had let themselves swim; the salt water soothing over their scales and fins. "I think perhaps most everyone is a little enchanted with things that glitter. Even sirens like to go for the shiniest mate,"

-----

"I actually kind of like old-fashioned," Reyjna teased, leading Aerythel to a little cottage just a few blocks away from the sea, wildflowers of all kinds growing in the small front garden. "It's not much, but it suits me just fine. Wine? I've got a lovely bottle from a friend the next town over,"

-----

Aetrin's smile slowly grew, his wings unfolding from their tight position on his back. "Yeah. Lily tries, but it's not the same. 'S not like she can go flying with me," He snorted, suddenly imagining his orc friend with little bumblebee wings.

"Not, not that I fly often, anymore, I mean. Too easy to be spotted, y'know,"

"What about you?" Ellwen asked curiously, floating along and letting his wings do all the work. "Have you had a mate?"

------

"It looks cozy." Aerythel said with a smile. "I would love some wine, Reyjna. It's been some time since I have had wine, most what I find on the sea is rum." He chuckled.

------

"Do you want to? Go flying, that is." Fynn asked, glancing at Aetrin's wings before focusing on his face. "If anyone were to happen to see, my wings would hide yours easily." He said, stretching out his blue and black wings a bit to make his point.

"Oh, no, I was too young, and then the shark attack happened," Isil shook their head, remembering the days where they would stay inside and imagine what it might have been like. "Have you ever...what was it you people on land call it? Dating-dated? Someone?"

------

"Rum's way too strong for me- unless I'm looking to get as drunk as possible," Reyjna snickered, reminded of the times she and Isil would stay up to dawn drinking and gossiping.

Gesturing for Aerythel to follow, the selkie went inside; a small living room just off the main entrance. Plush chairs and pillows were stuffed into every available space, a row of bookshelves lining one wall filled with old texts and dusty knick-knacks.

"Make yourself at home, I'll just run to the kitchen to grab some glasses for us,"

-----

"More than anything," Aetrin sighed, his face falling. He looked away from Fynn, hands tightening around his teacup. "But I shouldn't. I'm the only Fae left; in these woods, at least. I'd be one big target,"
