Re: Flying At Sea

Fynn sighed as he closed the door, pausing when he saw Ellwen pouting at him. "What?"

"You two got on real well, Fynn..." Ellwen whined.

"Yeah, and?"

"Why didn't you go after him, ask him to breakfast or something?"

Fynn sputtered at that. "I don't, I'm not-"

"You know you want to!" Ellwen said, pout breaking into a smile.

Fynn sighed, rubbing his face. "...I doubt he'd agree."

------

"That is true." Aerythel chuckled. "I am partial to the funnel cakes, something is too good about sweet fried dough covered with sugar." He said with a sigh. "Which will be one of the treats we shall be partaking in tonight."

"I love fruits dipped in chocolate," Reyjna sighed, remembering all the stalls she and Isil had passed by that had chocolate covering everything you could dream of. "But then, I love chocolate in general. Are you planning to win my heart with food?"

-------

Isil continued to sing, their voice growing unnaturally loud as it drifted through the town. Some people stopped to listen, others just shook their heads; either way, everyone was used to the nightly concerts by now.

"Oh won't you come with me, where the ocean meets the sky, and as the clouds roll by-y-y, we'll sing the song of the sea~"

"Would it work?" Aerythel asked with an amused smile. "I'm hoping my charming personality will help, but I know I can never compare to the sweetness of chocolates."

------

Ellwen tilted his head when the singing reached him, and he grinned widely. "C'mon, go follow him and ask him to breakfast. I have someone I also wish to see."

Fynn sighed, knowing his friend wouldn't be letting up anytime soon if he didn't just go. "Fine, fine, but I blame you if it goes wrong." He said, already heading out.

"That's the spirit!" Ellwen cheered, grabbing Isil's arm and practically dragging him out. He gave him a push and waggled his eyebrows with a grin. "Go get 'em, lover boy." He said, already turning and heading to where Isil was singing.

"You're insufferable." Fynn said with a shake of his head as he watched Ellwen go. With a sigh, he looked towards the direction Aetrin had gone before taking to his wings and flying quietly after the Fae.

"Well, it certainly isn't hurting your chances," Reyjna winked, though her face fell when she heard Isil's song echoing down the streets.

With a sigh, the selkie shook her head and tried to distract herself with a nearby stall selling intricate flower crowns. "They do this every night. Sometimes I think they're trying to call their pod.."

------------

Aetrin hiked slowly down the path that led out of town, humming to himself now that he was alone. As he went, the trees grew thicker and thicker, the forest around him growing ancient and wise. Lights began to flicker among the brush; will-o-the-wisps and pixies waking from their hiding places at the sound of their protector walking along.

The path soon became no more than a thin game trail, rocks and fallen logs making the way treacherous. Down a steep hill, over softly gurgling streams, Aetrin unknowingly led Fynn past all the dangers that kept his home safe.

Finally, the fae burst out of the trees into an open field, the little group of sprites behind him spreading apart to light the glen in an otherworldly glow. To one side sat a house, old and made of moss-covered bricks, trees seeming to grow out of it despite the hard building material. A garden sat just beside it, overgrown and unkempt but bursting with magical herbs and plants that would only be found in the most magic of places.

Aetrin went past all this, though, to a giant stone that stuck out of the earth like a spire. Placing his hand against the smooth stone, carvings in some strange language began to glow.

"I'm home, everyone.."

----------

Isil closed their eyes and danced along the beach, content to pretend just for a moment that this was home, their siblings waiting just under the surface of the water for them to return.

It couldn't last forever, though; one mis-step was all it took to shatter the illusion, the siren falling down onto their side when they couldn't catch themselves.

"That is... sad." Aerythel said with a frown, glancing at the flower crowns before grabbing one and putting it on Reyjna's head. "Perhaps I'll look for them, lead them here."

------

Fynn nearly lost sight of Aetrin in the thick forest, but manage to follow him to the clearing. He paused in the air as he saw sprites and other lesser Fae. For a long moment, he thought of turning back, forgetting what he saw, but he decided better than that. He swooped down, flapping his wings and disturbing the plants around him before landing.

------

Ellwen had saw Isil dancing, and a smile had come to his face as he walked towards the Siren. The smile dropped, however, when he saw Isil fall. He took to his wings and flew over to get to Isil, landing beside him and kneeling down right away to help him up. "Are you alright, Isil?" He asked, breathless from the quick flight.

"They never speak of where they came from, only that it was south of here." Reyjna tried to remember anything Isil had told her of their old home, only to realize that they'd never told her anything at all.

At the feeling of the flower crown in her hair, she let out a soft 'oh!'. "Why, thank you. Flowers are one of my favorite things about the surface."

----------

Aetrin had slipped his cloak off as he knelt before the great stone, iridescent wings that were so delicate they were transparent resting close to his back.

At the noise, the lesser Fae disappeared into the grass, hiding while their larger brother whipped around to face the sound. Hands and eye glowing with ancient magic, Aetrin looked terrified; until he saw Fynn.

"You-You followed me?" He hissed, anger spiking as recognition lit up his brain. "I knew I shouldn't have trusted you, either of you! !@#$ off, you won't have my wings, I haven't been the non-murderous sort of fae since the last hunts died down!"

----------

Isil gasped in surprise when Ellwen was suddenly there, holding them up and checking if they were alright. Panic flooded their system; had they led the poor man here accidentally?

"Oh, I'm sorry, I should have known better than to sing tonight, of course you would, you would hear and fall under- gods I'm so stupid!" The siren swore, sure that Ellwen was only there because he was under Isil's spell, trapped by the desire their song was meant to create.

"Good. Something as beautiful as these flowers were meant for someone just as beautiful." Aerythel said, reaching out and touching Reyjna's cheek. "Perfect." He hummed before pulling his hand back. "Are you hungry?"

------

Fynn's wings flared out in surprise, and he quickly stepped back. "I, no, that's not," He shook his head, holding his hands up to show he meant no harm. "Sorry, I, uh... I had followed you to ask if you wanted to, ah, meet up for breakfast? I'm really, really, not interested in taking your wings, I promise." He stressed, taking a few extra steps back to keep from crowding the Fae. "I-I did notice your wings at the bar, BUT! But I wasn't going to tell anyone, it's not my business! Everyone's got secrets, I'm not going to tell anyone! I just, I got on really well with you, and Ellwen convinced me to, ah, ask you to breakfast..." He trailed off, realizing he was talking fast and hadn't breathed enough.

------

Ellwen blinked, then laughed a bit and sat back in the sand before grinning at Isil. "You think I'm under the spell of your song?" He hummed, just looking pleased. "I was told you sing every night, I wanted to see you sing."

Re: Flying At Sea

"Hmm," Reyjna blushed, smiling softly at Aerythel. She could get used to this sweetness, she decided; though she still didn't want to make this easy on the god. "I am, I haven't eaten since this afternoon. There's a lovely little place down on the docks, they always serve the best seafood,"

Not really waiting for an answer, the selkie grabbed onto Aerythel's hand and led the way off of dirt paths and onto wooden ones.

--------------

Aetrin grabbed at his cloak frantically, wrapping it around himself and taking a few stumbling steps backwards. For a long moment he just stared at Fynn, frozen like a deer caught in headlights; but then the sprites that had hidden before got curious.

A few of them surrounded Fynn, touching his wings and hair. When they sensed no danger they tried to call their kin over, seeing a new face for the first time in a decade and getting all sorts of excited over it. The way they danced around the young man made Aetrin deflate a little, though he still looked pretty jumpy.

"You cannot tell anyone, not, not even your friend, no one else can know," He spoke again, not at all the mysterious, ethereal creature that legend had made Fae out to be. Mostly, right now, he looked like a frightened child. "You, you- you....wanted to...have breakfast together..?"

------------

Isil frowned, not understanding at all what Ellwen was saying. "Yes, that's what it does, it makes you want to hear more- I should be asking if you're alright!"

They tried to stand, guilt already sitting in their gut like rocks. "Please, forgive me, I have to go,"

"You'll have to tell me which is the best of their food." Aerythel said with a smile, lacing their fingers with ease, happy to let Reyjna lead. "I am looking forward to my first meal on land in a while. Everything always tastes better up here."

------

Fynn stared at the sprites in awe, holding his wings open for the little things to inspect. "I... yeah. I thought it might be nice." He said lightly, taking in a deep breath and looking Aetrin in the eyes. "I completely understand if you don't want to, however."

------

Ellwen huffed and stood, carefully helping Isil to stand. "That's not why I wanted to hear you sing, Isil." He said, making sure the Siren was stable before taking a step back, keeping one hand on his arm to ensure he didn't fall. "I want to get to know you more, I figured coming out while you were singing would be a good way to."

Re: Flying At Sea

"Mm, well, I always love their shellfish." Reyjna grinned, leading Aerythel to a tiny little restaurant on the docks, most of the seating outside. Just sitting down to wait for someone to ask what they wanted, the selkie kept her attention on the sea god. "A big bucket of clams and mussels and crab, cooked with lots of butter and garlic~"

----------

Aetrin was, simply put, dumbstruck. Surely, Fynn was trying to trick him. But then, the sprites wouldn't have relaxed so easily if his intentions were foul, the little things could sense malevolence like his personal alarm system.

"I...don't know that I ought to trust you. Seeing as we just met a few hours ago, an' all," He said quietly, after what felt like an eternity. Still looking ready to dart, the faerie took a few tentative steps forward.

---------

"I-I- oh," Isil flushed, feeling the world spinning around the two of them. They were sure Ellwen had been enchanted, but he'd sounded frustrated, and that was definitely not something that one could feel under a siren's spell.

They stumbled a little before managing to grab their wheelchair and sit, legs suddenly refusing to support their weight. "How-How did you find out I was..?"
