Re: Flying At Sea

"Tell me how you lost your eye and I'll tell you how I lost my arm." Ellwen said cheerfully, holding up his right arm, the color of obsidian.

"You really don't need to do that." Fynn huffed, his face turning slightly red as he looked away from the group. That only made Ellwen laugh, however.

"You just don't want me to because you're a big part of that story." Ellwen said with a wide grin.

Aetrin looked almost offended, staring at Ellwen like he was trying to decide whether the winged man was crazy or not. He shook his head after a long moment, yanking his hood back up over his face to cover the scars there. "Trusted someone I shouldn' have, that's all. Actually, trusted a lot of people I shouldn't have, ha."

With concern on her face, Lily watched as her idiot friend made to get up and leave. He tried to pay, but a large hand covered his before he could reach for his gold. "You drink for free, you know this. Sit back down, the subject can be changed."

Huffing, but too tired and drunk to put up as much of a fight as he would have to, the Fae got comfortable again, but didn't remove his hood.

"Don't mind Ellwen, he gets a little excited and even more open when he gets drunk." Fynn said with a sigh, making the Duke pout. "Why don't you tell us about this festival? Ellwen has been excited about it since we heard word of it, but we don't know much about the Sea God people worship down here."

Ellwen perked up at that. "It was the reason I decided to come down here! I love learning about the other cultures around us, especially since Caelum Ventus may be opening up to tourism." He said cheerfully.

Fynn shot Ellwen a look at that, having not known Ellwen was thinking of that. "...I hadn't heard that yet, it must have been announced just before we left." He said, giving Ellwen a pointed look, which he returned with a sheepish one.

------

"For a beautiful selkie like you, I could spend years courting." Aerythel chuckled, swimming after Reyjna, his tail becoming legs, but the fins covering his body remained. "I am Aerythel, though many know that name already. May I have your name, pretty one?"

"I don't know much. I live out in the woods, Lily's the only reason I come into town." Aetrin shrugged, jostling the fabric of his cloak and causing light to glint against his wings just for a second. "He's some big fuckin fish thing, I think it's supposed to be able to shapeshift?"

Lily beamed once more now that her friend wasn't going to go mope alone somewhere, taking a deep breath when they started speaking of the local culture. "Aerythel is his name. He is a giant fish, but can change his form, yeah. Used to be he got gifts of pretty maidens during the festival, but the town stopped that real quick when there were no more maidens for them,"

---------

Reyjna let her tail split into legs once more, coat wrapping around her as she sat; head just touching the surface. Part of her wanted to run back to town and laugh about this with Isil, but the other part...

Well, it wasn't like she had any suitors on land, and it had been many years since anyone had tried to earn her coat. "Reyjna is my name. I look forward to seeing how the gods court, but I must be getting back to my friend, he can't walk well without me."

Fynn noticed the glint of wings, but refrained from saying anything. After all, he and Ellwen were hiding part of who they were, it wasn't his place to question what another was hiding. He was, however, intrigued by his discovery.

"I can see why." Ellwen said cheerfully. "I can't imagine the maidens were to pleased to be gifted either, so it's probably best that tradition died out."

------

"I will have you fall for me, Reyjna. It is not often I am presented with such a wonderful challenge." Aerythel chuckled. "Let me accompany you? It has been some years since I have stepped foot in this village. I choose a different village each year to visit."

Re: Flying At Sea

"Sometimes, 'round this time of year, young women walking the docks alone say they feel like there's someone watchin' them. No one ever goes missing or nothing!" As soon as Lily had said the silly rumor, she was quick to dispel any actual worry, topping off everyone's drinks to distract.

Aetrin was quick to make use of this, downing half his glass in one go. "Eh, it's only 'cause whatever it is is stealing people the town don't care about," He pointed at, ever the paranoid conspiracy theorist.

The barkeep only laughed, loud and deep, eyeing her friend with fondness. "Yes, yes, and everyone is out to get you. Next drink you get is water."

------

Reyjna only nodded, offering her hand to Aerythel and smiling. Isil was going to burst a vein over this.

Ellwen looked curiously between Aerin and Lily, taking a slow drink. "Has there actually been a rash of people missing here?" He asked, sounding nonchalant, but Fynn knew better.

"No, no, you're not going to investigate it. You have enough that you've got to do back home, and you've already promised feathers weekly to that guy in the wheelchair--"

"Isil." Ellwen supplied helpfully, just grinning.

"--you do not need to add investigating disappearances." Fynn finished, glaring at his friend.

------

Aerythel smiled and took Reyjna's hand before kissing the back of it, then helped the selkie up. As they breached the water, the sea god spotted Isil and chuckled. "Is this your Siren friend?"

"Nothin' reported, at least." Lily shrugged, shaking her head and waving away Ellwen's worry. "Don't think on it, this one just isn't very trusting of strangers."

At the sound of the siren's name, both orc and fae shared a look, but it was the fat-mouthed Aetrin that spoke first. "So you've met the resident mope? You'll hear 'em tonight, too; sings some mournful !@#$ almost on the dot."

----------

"Yeah, this is Isil. Isil, this is my date!" Reyjna cheerfully introduced, only smiling wider when her friend glared daggers at her. She walked back up onto the beach, ignoring the siren's protests that she was getting them soaking wet as she moved them back into their wheelchair. "This is Aerythel. He thought I was a gift from the town, for the celebration."

Isil only frowned deeper, eyeing the god up and down and trying somehow to discern if they were trustworthy. "So you got a boyfriend instead of my potion supplies."

"Yup!" The selkie grinned, popping the end of the word obnoxiously.

"He didn't appear to be a mope when I met him." Ellwen said, intrigued. "But he sings every night? I'll have to listen for him."

Fynn rolled his eyes, casting an unimpressed look towards Ellwen. "The guy chased us down to ask for our feathers, and Ellwen-" He gestures to the Duke with his mug, "-rather than be creeped out by a stranger wanting his feathers, he just gives them over! And decides that he's going to have people we know collect their feathers to start weekly deliveries, to a stranger."

"What? I thought he was nice." Ellwen said, trying to defend himself.

"Pretty sure you were just thinking with your dick, but what would I know." Fynn finished his sentence by taking a long, slow drink of his ale.

------

Aerythel chuckled as he watched the two friends. "I am to blame for that, my apologies. Tell me what you are needing, and by sunrise they will be waiting on this beach for you by sunrise. I hope this is acceptable for my part in keeping Reyjna from retrieving your supplies." He said, bowing his head to Isil.

Aetrin knew he'd gotten beer up his nose before he felt it, snorting and choking on laughter as he sputtered over his glass helplessly. "That was fuckin' funny," He elbowed Fynn, surprisingly gentle, a rare smile gracing his face.

While her friend had his moment, Lily continued right on gossiping. "Tiny thing wanted them for potions, yeah? There're some folk that don't like them much, but their !@#$ works better than what the local doctor has half the time."

"Isil is a weird one, for sure, and definitely lonely, but they have good intentions."
