Flying At Sea

Music poured through streets and along the docks of port Myrrfell while the scents of delicious stall food filled the air. There was laughter and cheers, and people from all over were coming to Myrrfell to celebrate the sea god Aerythel and thank him for a bountiful season. There were offerings set at statues along the port, and celebrations occurring throughout Myrrfell.

Ellwen took in a deep breath as he landed, grinning as he smelled the food of Myrrfell. "Fynn my friend, this is why I wanted to come down here! Do you smell that? That is the food of the people! And it is delicious!" He laughed, looking delighted while fluttering his gold and teal wings.

Fynn, however, frowned as he was whacked by one of Ellwen's wings. "You could have had this made back home. We don't exactly fit in around here." He huffed, tucking his bluejay-esque wings tight against his body to keep them from touching anyone. "We shouldn't be here."

"Oh, live a little Fynn! Lighten up and have some fun!" Ellwen laughed, patting his friend hard on the back. "We don't have to be stuffy and boring down here! No one knows who we are!"

"Just that we come from the sky city..." Fynn grumbled, but begrudgingly went along with Ellwen.

Re: Flying At Sea

The streets were crowded, the cobblestone road was bumpy and uneven, and altogether Isil was not having a particularly good time. They wouldn't even be out, if it weren't for Reyjna threatening to cut off her supply of sea plants. At least most people were kind enough to make room for them as they wheeled along behind their closest friend.

Reyjna finished setting out a small offering, and then turned to smirk at the bored look on her friend's face. "You know you're having fun, don't lie to me. Besides, it's not healthy to hole yourself up all alone in your shop."

"Not true, I can burn very easily in this harsh sun," Isil retorted, rolling their eyes. They didn't wait a second for the young woman, turning and trying to maneuver around a pothole. "I'll be as red as a crab by this evening."

"That's not what I meant. Your kind isn't solitary."

Isil would have stopped moving if Reyjna wasn't right behind them, pushing them forward when their hands froze. They crossed their arms, about to retort, when a flash of golden feathers made them completely forget what they were doing. They knew there was a city, up in the sky, like there were down in the depths of the oceans, but they had never truly seen one in person.

"Uh-huh, that's what I thought, you've got nothing," Reyjna laughed, thinking her friend's silence was just a lack of a good argument.

"No- shut up- there are winged people here, do you know what I could do with just one feather?"

Re: Flying At Sea

Ellwen paused when something bright from a stall caught his eye. He turned and headed straight for it with a grin, eyes set on a colorful woven satchel. "Fynn! Look at this!" He said with excitement, grabbing the satchel and looking it over. "I've been needing a new satchel for a while now," He said, testing the shoulder strap to make sure it wasn't likely to fall apart while he was flying. "I think I'll get it." He said, reaching into his own satchel and pulling out a few gold coins, setting them in front of the person running the stall. "Good money for good work." He said with a grin before moving on.

"This is why I didn't want to come here..." Fynn grumbled, shrinking at the stall owner's shocked gaze following them. "That bag wasn't even priced at a gold, but you gave them four."

"What? This is good quality, and that should be paid for in reflection to the quality. I just gave them what I thought it was worth." Ellwen said with a shrug, pausing once again to look at another stall, this one filled with local made jewelry.

Re: Flying At Sea

Isil was already speeding down the street by the time Reyjna processed what they said, going dangerously fast on the uneven road. The young woman ran to catch up, used to her friends antics by now. "Seriously? We don't have to chase after them like they're criminals!"

The siren didn't even slow down to answer her. "Yes, we do! They could have taken off by now for all we know! Now shush and keep up-!!"

Festival goers around them turned and watched with shock on their faces as the wheels of the wheelchair caught on a particularly large stone; for a moment everything froze in time, and then Isil was splayed out on the ground. Their wheelchair tumbled a little ways down the street before stopping on its' side, one wheel still spinning slowly in the air.

"Isil!! I told you not to go so fast; are you alright!?" In an instant Reyjna was moving towards her friend, hoping the worst they had suffered was some scratches.

Ellwen turned at the sound of the crash, eyes wide only a moment before he moved with a flurry of feathers to Isil's side, landing smoothly on his knees and looking at the siren with concern. "Are you injured?" He asked, looking for visible injuries.

Fynn groaned inwardly, he hadn't wanted to draw any more attention to themselves then they already had. Fynn new Ellwen better, though, he attracted trouble.

"No, no, I'm..." Isil muttered rubbing dirt off their face while reaching for Ellwen, trailing off when they actually looked up at the other. The siren was lost immediately, unable and unwilling to break their gaze away from the man's eyes. Flushing something closer to purple than pink, they swallowed and found their voice again. "I-I'm alright, thank you,"

Reyjna was only seconds behind the winged man, but it felt like an eternity passed before she was pushing in beside him and grabbing at her friend.

"This is why you should listen to me more." Her words were harsh but her hands were soft, smoothing over scraped elbows and bruised knees with gentle ease. While Isil got lost in his 'saviors' eyes, Reyjna kept her squinted gaze at the other winged one.

"I'm glad you're alright." Ellwen said with a kind smile, moving to right Isil's wheelchair for him. "That seemed like a pretty nasty crash, what had you going so fast through the crowds? Running from someone?" He asked curiously, making sure Reyjna had finished looking Isil over before gently lifting the siren and returning him to his wheelchair.

Fynn huffed and looked away from the group before finally walking over. "Is everything alright?" He asked, though he didn't look to pleased, his eyes more on all the eyes that kept looking over at them.

"Ah, well, actually," Isil sputtered, turning the barest shade of pink. Reyjna had to stop herself from staring; most of the time it was Isil gently letting down would-be suitors, not getting all starry-eyed themselves. "I make potions, medicines, you see, and- your feathers- that is, if you have any loose ones-"

"Oh for the gods' sake, would you happen to have any loose feathers we could have?" Reyjna threw her hands up, asking the question for Isil when they couldn't get it out. Her efforts had been to shut them up; but almost immediately Isil was stumbling over their words again.

"We could do a trade? I could get you- hm. Would...you want sirens' scales?" Reyjna's hand on their shoulder tightened almost to the point of painful.

Fynn snorted at that. "We have no need for siren scales." He said, crossing his arms. "Beside, you can't just expect-" He was cut off by Ellwen throwing a wing up in front of him and stretching it out, leaving the blue feathered man to sputter.

"You can just have some of the loose ones, no need to go tearing scales off. When I preen my wings, there's always a couple small feathers that come out." Ellwen said, already beginning to brush his fingers expertly through his wings, carding over each section and coming away with four feathers the size of his palm before offering them to Isil.

"You can't just give your feathers away, Ellwen!" Fynn said, looking non too pleased with the situation. "You don't know, they could be planning on cursing you! You're too importa-" He had to cut himself off, looking both mad at himself and his friend. "It's dangerous to give away parts of yourself, especially to people you meet on the lower lands."

"I do not curse people. Or, not people that don't deserve it." Isil huffed, very gratefully taking the feathers and tucking them away. Barely able to tear their gaze from Ellwen, the siren only managed a quick squinted look before going right back to infatuated. "I can make some very strong healing potions with these, thank you,"

Reyjna, though, Reyjna fixed her gaze on Fynn and didn't so much as blink. "I suppose you think of us as uncivilized barbarians then? You're right, and you are lucky we are in a land of law, or you would not be complaining so loud."

"Reyjna!" The siren gasped, their turn to grab their friend in a tight grip. "Reign it in!" They hissed, an almost inhuman sound.
