Re: Who Put This Bean In A Flying Tin Can

"Oh my gods this is exactly like Star Trek," Maxie laughed, unable to contain his giddiness over everything that had just happened to him. He took a breath, seeming to have millions more questions for Asterris, but was cut off by a shaky but stable voice warbling up from the radio clipped to him.

"-oly !@#$, the signal's getting stronger! Max, do you copy!?"

The sudden voice shocked Maxie, but only for a second, before he was pressing a button to reply to his worried ground crew. "I do, and Houston, you're never gonna believe this." He released the button, and then turned back to Asterris.

"Is there any way your communication systems could pick up their signal? My shuttle had a video feed but all I have on me is a personal radio, and they might get a little concerned about a strange ship getting closer and closer to Earth with no context,"

Asterris gently took Maxie's radio and looked it over before looking to one of the nearby crewmembers. "Vann, triangulate the signal and request video contact."

"Yes sir!" Vann said, a much smaller of the Ferrah with blue speckles covering parts of his body like freckles, coming over and taking the radio to one of the counters and hooking wires into it.

While Vann did so, the screen that was showing space around them switched to a darker screen with blue and green lights swirling, looking almost like it was awaiting a connection. Once the video feed was up, whoever was on the other side would be able to see everything on the bridge.

The request, once it was received, was accepted, the technology at mission control struggling to interface with that on Asterris' ship. It worked, though, the shocked faces of scientists, flight calculators, and military officials soon appearing on the screen in HD glory.

"Mission control, we have made first contact." Was all Maxie could get out, before the far away room of people erupted into cheers and some visibly exchanged money from bets. "Permission to land?"

"Permission granted! Houston launch pad, it's the only thing big enough that isn't an airport."

"Good. It won't be long before we touch down." Asterris said, placing a hand on Maxie's shoulder. "We'll have Max show us where to land. We look forward to making contact in person." He said smoothly.

The head of the mission just nodded before the feed was cut, scientists probably already rushing to figure out a way to explain this to the public.

Meanwhile, Maxie turned his attention back to the hologram of Earth, studying it before speaking up. "Does this have zoom? I could pinpoint exactly where to land if I could see more."
