Feathered Fae

Reese sighed unhappily, being forcefully dragged along to a large clearing just inside the forest. Every spring equinox the village gathered here, led by their mayor and a chosen sacrifice to the forest gods. Bound in intricately dyed and braided rope, decorated with fresh flowers and anointed in sweet smelling oil, Reese was that sacrifice; though an unwilling one.

Being the son of a witch, he was generally unliked, even though his mother had been hung when he was too young to even learn any of her magic. But a poor bastard witch child was unacceptable, even if he kept to himself. Someone finally decided to give him the honor of being the gift to the gods, but he knew it was just to get rid of him for good; making sure he couldn't curse them or their children.

In the middle of the clearing was a large circle of toadstools, big enough for a group of people to fit comfortably in. It was this that Reese was forced into, as the rest of the village held their breath and waited.

Re: Feathered Fae

It was several moments before the toadstools began to faintly glow. Soft balls of blue light began to rise from the ground around Reese and flicker and flutter as the floated delicately within the circle. After a moment, the came together and glowed brighter before fading away, leaving behind a tall Fae man with colorful flecks of feathers crossing over his cheekbones and framing his face before tailing down his neck to be lost in loose fitting flowing fabric that hung low on his back to allow two pairs of beautifully feathered wings to rest with ease. He looked across the clearing at those gathered, teal eyes taking them all in before he looked down at Reese.

There was a flutter of wings and suddenly the Fae was knelt in front of Reese, a cascade of dark teal hair falling over his shoulders as he traced Reese's jaw. He made a soft sound in his throat before tracing his thumb slowly over Reese's bottom lips. "Yes, he'll do." He said, voice soft but carrying across the clearing with ease. "What is your name, mortal?"

Reese was frozen to the spot, despite wanting nothing more than to back out of the circle and run home. The touch was far too intimate for something that just wanted to eat him; would he be raped before too?

Flushing nervously, he looked down at the ground, his voice coming out not nearly as strong as he wanted it to. "R-Reese. Reese Hawthorn." He almost asked for the Fae's name in return, but thought better of it; instead, he gathered his bravery and stole a few glances at them instead. The boy had to admit, they were beautiful; if it weren't for his binds and the crowd around, he might have even felt relaxed around them.

Re: Feathered Fae

"A good name." The Fae said, hands lightly touching the flowers decorating Reese before he lifted the bound human into his arms and stood. He gave one last look to the crowd before the blue lights began to dance around them again, slowly surrounding the two of them until nothing but the lights could be seen. When they faded away, they were in a different place, the sound of a stream nearby. They appeared to be in a room, but upon closer inspection it would be the inside of a tree, and everything inside the room appeared to be made up of some type of plant.

The Fae carried Reese to a bed of soft moss and set him down, carefully undoing the ropes binding Reese. "I am Tarragon Artemisia, and you will be staying here with me in the Realm of Fae."

"You mean you're not gonna eat me?" Reese asked softly, staring kind of dumbly at Tarragon as he was unbound. The rest of his clothes were worn and faded; flowers stuffed into holes to try and make it look nicer. Once his hands were free he went straight to picking them out, wanting no part of this sacrifice business and wanting out. "This isn't a 'sacrifice to appease the gods'?"

"You are considered a sacrifice to your people, but no, I am not going to eat you. Nor will you be dying any time soon." Tarragon said as he knelt and looked over Reese. "You have a very special purpose here, and I can take you to see your peoples previous sacrifice to learn more about that purpose."

"I, uh, sure?" Reese nooded a little, looking at Tarragon closer now that he wasn't afraid of dying. He rubbed his wrists nervously, wondering just what his purpose was now. "At least this is better than back home. Are we in the Fae realm?"

"Yes." Tarragon said as he stood and straightened out, four wings folded delicately against his back. "This is my home here in the Realm of Fae, and it is now yours as well." He said, helping Reese up before beginning to pull off the humans clothes. "Before we go we must get rid of these clothes and put you in something more suited for here."

"W-Whoa hey, give a guy a little privacy!!" Reese protested, flushing darkly as he struggled to keep at least his pants on. His shirt already lost, Tarragon had full view to a myriad of scars earned by being the town's scapegoat. "I-I can get dressed myself, t-thank you,"

"There is no need for privacy here." Tarragon said, frowning a bit when he saw the scars over Reese's body. "Where did you get these? Most of the humans given to us are smooth and unmarked." The way he spoke held nothing but pure curiosity as he traced over one of the scars.
