Re: Feathered Fae

"The townsfolk never let me around their children, e-even when I was little. W-What if they don't like me either?" Reese stared down at his knees, gasping a little when he thought of something and pressing his hands to his abdomen. "Does it hurt? W-What happens if they don't make it? Will...Will they look anything like me?" The questions spilled out before he could stop them, confused and afraid.

Re: Feathered Fae

Shea couldn't help but smile. "I'm sure they will adore you, don't worry. Acacia already wants to hold onto you." He said, the little Fae child flapping her wings and trying to reach for Reese. "But yes, it will hurt. But only for a little, and it isn't too bad I promise. It's not often that they don't make it, but when it does happen there is an extended grieving period, but hopefully you'll never have to deal with that." He said softly. "And the Fae tend to take after their fathers, though they do retain some features from us. Like here, Acacia has my eyes." He said, pointing out the green eyes on the little Fae that were near matches to his own.

Re: Feathered Fae

"Can..Can I hold her?" Reese asked softly, smiling just a little when he noticed her eyes and hoping that he would pass his own on. He took deep breaths and felt the panicked feeling die down a little, soothed by the presence of someone that knew what they were doing and still sort of riding the high from flying. "T-This is terrifying- I'll get to have Tarragon there when it hurts, right?"

"Of course!" Shea said with a smile, holding Acacia out to Reese. The young Fae child wasted no time flapping her wings and managing to fly into Reese's arms. "I think your Fae would probably fight anyone who told him he couldn't be with you when your child is born."

Reese made a small 'oof' when Acacia landed in his arms, holding her carefully and feeling awkward about the situation. "Is...Is it nice, living here? We're not just breeders? I-I mean, Tarragon told me we weren't but. Just in case."

"It is nice living here, but the reason we are even brought here is to have children for the Fae." Shea said softly. "We are more than breeders, at least to most Fae, but there are some who feel differently than the majority." He said gently. "You don't need to worry about Tarragon though, he's kind." He said with a gentle smile. "He and my Fae are fairly close. If they weren't, he wouldn't be allowed here without my Fae."

Reese sighed, glad Tarragon was as nice as he seemed. He still shuddered at the thought of bearing children, but he figured it was better than running away. Baby steps, right? He found himself gently petting Acacia's back, fascinated by how soft her feathers were and trying to remember if Tarragon was that soft. "This is all just...a-a lot. It's scary,"

"I know it is. I was frightened when I first came as well." Shea said gently, smiling as Acacia flapped her wings and giggled, trying to grab onto Reese's hair. "But you're not alone here at least, and you'll feel much better after a few days of being here."

"T-Thank you. And I'm sorry again, for running." Reese apologized, looking to Shea for help when Acacia started to pull at his hair. "I-I think I might go try and get used to Tarragon's home for a while, it's definitely not like any house I-I've ever been in."

Shea smiled gently and carefully took Acacia from Reese. "The homes here are much different than back home. At times I still can't get used to it all myself. The first few weeks, I nearly fell in the stream when walking at night." He chuckled. "It'll take time to get used to it all, but I think it won't be too hard for you."
